Class of 1968 45th Reunion

July 27, 2013:
Salem High School Class of ’68 holds reunion

Twenty-nine members of the Salem High School Class of 1968 enjoyed a class mixer at the Salem Eagles on July 26 beginning their 45th class reunion celebration with a “45 record” theme. Light snacks and cash bar were provided from 7 to 11 p.m.

On July 27, 68 class members, along with 37 guests, attended several reunion gatherings. Classmates traveled from Florida, Maryland, Georgia, Idaho, Michigan, Kansas, New York, Texas, Colorado, Missouri, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, and Oklahoma.  A Saturday morning golf outing was headed by Jim Fattler and Chuck Straub. The Undergound Railroad Trolley Tour, offered by the Salem Historical Society, was another optional event Saturday morning. Cathie Shoop DeFazio held an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a light lunch.

The evening began at the VFW Hall on Arch Street from 5 to 11:30 p.m. A social hour was held from 5 to 6 p.m. After announcements were made, classmates received gag gifts and held a free drawing. Rick Berg honored and read a list of class veterans. The class veterans then posed for a photograph taken by Jen’s Photograph. A class photo was then taken. A buffet was provided by Mike’s Penn Grill followed by a 50-50 raffle and basket raffle. A D.J. provided music for the evening.

On July 28 a brunch was held at Salem Hills Golf Club.

The SHS Class of 1968 continues to work toward its goal of raising $100,000 to be presented to the SHS Alumni Association as an ongoing scholarship at the 50-year reunion in 2018.
